What's the Difference Between the 2018 Nissan Kicks and the Juke?

The distinctive style and superlative performance of the Nissan Juke made it a well-known name in the crossover market. The robust turbocharged four-cylinder engine of this vehicle is not only impressive but also superior in its segment. However, the Japanese carmaker is discontinuing the Juke to introduce the all-new 2018 Kicks. Both of these vehicles are completely different in terms of looks, although some features in the Kicks are inspired by the Juke. The latest version is a conventional type subcompact crossover vehicle that lays more focus on interior spacing and high specifications. Here is a detailed comparison of both these vehicles.

Differences in Size

The 2018 Kicks is considerably larger in its size when compared to the 2017 Juke. It has a long 3.5-inch wheelbase. It is nearly 6.7 inches larger in terms of length and about 0.6 inches heavier in weight. This vehicle is slightly smaller than Nissan’s Rogue Sport which is the smallest crossover from the Japanese company.

Both of these vehicles are listed under the subcompact segment of automobiles. The larger footprint of the Kicks offers nearly 25 cubic feet of space in the cargo section. This is double the cargo space of the Juke. Larger headroom and legroom in the rear side make it a comfortable vehicle for families that love traveling.

Differences in Performance

The focus of design has been shifted to efficiency in the 2018 Kicks. It is available with a four-wheel drive feature along with higher fuel efficiency projected at up to a combined 33 mpg. With this amazing fuel economy, the Kicks will easily kick out many of its competitors from the market. The smooth Xtronic CVT® of the Juke is replicated in this crossover.

However, the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine is now a power machine that emanates 115 lb-ft of torque and up to 125 horsepower. So, under the hood, Nissan hasn’t really augmented a lot with this new launch.

Differences in Looks and Interiors

Some of the best visual design features of the Juke are recaptured by Nissan in the 2018 Kicks. It comes with two-tone color options that include gray with orange, blue with white or red with a black roof. The interiors in the Kicks are more modern and attractive than the Juke. They have an impressive 7.0-inch infotainment display system with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™.

These features are available as standard on both the SR and SV models. The conventional roofline of the Kicks is quite different from the sharp roof slopes of the Juke. The all-new SUV has a V-motion tall grille with boomerang headlights, while the Juke comes with vertical-oriented lamps and a smaller grille.
