War of the crossovers- 2020 Nissan Rogue

The latest version of the Nissan Rogue has proven to be a hugely reliable vehicle as per Consumer Reports. Dynamic driving technologies in this SUV give confidence to the driver to venture out across different road conditions. It competes against the likes of the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Chevrolet Equinox and Mazda CX 5.

Trims on offer

Depending on the kind of control you want, you can either opt for the standard FWD (Front Wheel Drive) or add another $1,350 to turn any trim level into an AWD (All Wheel Drive). The car comes in three trims- S, SV and SL.

Type of engines and the kind of performance to expect

No hybrid option has been given with the 2020 Nissan Rogue. All trim levels come with a 2.5 liter, naturally aspirated I-4 petrol engine that generates 170 hp of power and 175 lb-ft of torque@4400 RPM. The Nissan Xtronic CVT sends power either to the front wheels or all four wheels. You can reasonably expect the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 8.8 seconds.

Drive the car and you will find the two different front and rear suspension setups giving a comfortable ride across the US.

Does it look good from the outside?

If you are looking for the rough and tumble SUV look, you may be a tad disappointed with the 2020 Nissan Rogue, which doesn’t exactly look the part. It has the usual V-Motion front grille and comes with headlamps and fog lights which make every Nissan car appear the same. LED headlights are optional on the SL, and LED daytime running lights are standard on all trims.

Silver roof rails are available as part of standard equipment in the SV and SL. A rear privacy glass window can be found in the SV and SL. Body colored, power adjustable side mirrors are seen on all trims, with the SV and SL getting integrated LED turn indicators. 19-inch alloy wheels are available for the SL, while 17-inch alloys can be found on the SV and the SL, with small differences.

What do I get on the inside?

You get two different driving modes here- Eco and Sport. The steering wheel is thick, giving most drivers a lot of control on the vehicle.

Overall, the interior in this car is very functional. Features include:

  • Best-in-class visibility at the rear

  • Divide-N-Hide storage system

  • Heated front seats (SV + SL)

  • Cargo space of 39 cubic feet, with 70 cubic feet after folding the 2nd row
